a carrier for in-furrow insecticides. Control insects and provide needed
nutrients in one easy operation during planting.
Capture® 2EC from FMC and Regent® 4SC from BASF are two popular
in-furrow soil insecticides labeled for use on corn with in-furrow or
popup fertilizers. Use them with any of our GoldStart in-furrow
fertilizers such as 6-24-6, 9-18-9, 5-15-15 or 3-18-18. We recommend GoldStart 6-24-6 for its higher phosphate content, low salt index and
reasonable price. |

is designed for maximum seed safety. It can be applied in-furrow or 2x2 at
planting time. |

| Capture® 2EC tank-mixing instructions suggest mixing Capture® 2EC first
with water to make a "preslurry" at a 2:1 ratio of water to insecticide.
When zinc is included use a 3:1 to 5:1 ratio before tank mixing. Add the
preslurry to the fertilizer when the tank is about half full. A high
quality liquid fertilizer like GoldStart is recommended. Use
adequate agitation during mixing and application. Follow "Fertilizer
Mixing Guidelines" and other label instructions completely when mixing
Capture® 2EC. |
| Regent® 4EC may be added directly to the tank with adequate agitation
during mixing. Agitation should be provided during application and stops.

| Rather than tank mixing some growers may prefer to keep the insecticide
and fertilize separate. In this case, use direct injection of the
insecticide into the fertilizer lines. Direct injection equipment is
available from Redball: 1-877-332-2551 and RHS, Inc: 1-800-247-3808. |
| Correct uneven fertilizer application problems before attempting to
apply insecticide with GoldStart in-furrow fertilizers. The liquid
fertilizer application system must be calibrated to provide uniform
delivery to each row. Repair fertilizer lines that "dribble" at the row
ends. |
| Both insecticide labels recommend compatibility tests be made before
tank mixing with fertilizer. |
